SingaCup - Asia's Premier International Youth Football Tournament > Latest News > Broadcast > Anticlimax to Day 4 – fight for U18 Finals spot still on!

November 8th, 2012 | Broadcast

An anti-climatic end to the competition of Match Day 4, as heavy downpour halt the proceedings just as the Football West Australia U16 (AUS) and Bombay Gymkhana Colts (IND) is about to take to the fields.

The matches had been pain-stakingly moved to the following day, in particular, a 7am match @ The Cage Sports Park between German European School and Real Diablos Rojos; as the boys from the German School is in the middle of their exam period, and they would not be able to play between 8am – 12noon. But with qualification to the Finals looks extremely likely for the Germans, not to mention their passion for football – a 7am challenge followed by exams in school is taken in their strides like true champions!

The match between Football West Australia U16 and Bombay Gymkhana Colts will be moved to 8am at St Wilfrid Fields while the rest of the pre-scheduled matches pushed back by an hour!

Both German European School and Football West Australia U16 are at 6 pts currently on the table. With University of San Carlos (PHI) failing to take any points against Youth Football Home Phuket (THA), which will ensure their qualification to the Finals; their negative goals difference basically sit them out of the finals, as any victory by German European School or Football West U16 will see them fall out of the qualifying 2nd place.

The odds is now with the German European School, with a superior goal difference of +4 vs Football West U16’s +1; a tremendous game will be required from Football West U16 against Bombay Gymkhana Colts, in order for them to beat the Germans to the Finals. However, Bombay Gymkhana Colts are no push overs and would want to end their 2nd campaign at Singa Cup, on a high.

Take note of the changes in match timings, and lets hope that the heavens will give us good weather to wrap up Singa Cup 2012 in the most spectacular fashion!
