Thane City FC’s Under-12, Under-14 and Under-16 football teams took part in Singa Cup 2025 in Singapore, playing 12 matches against strong teams from Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
The players got the chance to test their skills against some of the best in Asia and enjoyed a unique learning journey, setting a benchmark for youth football in the region. This is Thane City FC’s second season at the Singa Cup.

Under-16s beat Australia’s Ashdale Academy
The big highlight was when the Under-16 boys beat Australia’s Ashdale Academy 1-0, with Chaitanya Joshi scoring the match-winning goal and making everyone proud. Another bright spot was the close match against Garuda Muda from Indonesia, where Yug Panchal scored, but the team narrowly lost 2-1. The team narrowly missed out on a quarter-final spot to an Indonesian team on goal difference.
This trip helped our boys understand Asian football standards. They played with heart and learned a lot with every game.
Faisal Khan, Thane City FC U-16 Head Coach

While the Under-12 and Under-14 teams didn’t win any games, they had a valuable exposure tour. Players saw first-hand how teams from other countries play and train, which helped them see the benchmark of Asian football. This learning will surely help them improve when they return.
More than matches
The Singa Cup was much more than matches. The boys visited Universal Studios, Gardens by the Bay and Merlion Park, creating memories away from the pitch. For many of them, it was their first time meeting kids from so many different countries, and this helped them understand new cultures in a fun way – good times that will leave a lasting impact on many of these young boys.

Joining Thane City FC opened doors for these players to play outside India, learn from every match and bring this experience back to their teammates at home. This Singa Cup experience gave the boys a taste of international football, teamwork and new cultures, helping them grow as players and as individuals.

The tournament also fostered meaningful cultural exchange through community matches, team-bonding events, and shared experiences that strengthened regional ties through sport.
Para Football Showcase Promotes Inclusion and Unity
A defining highlight of this year’s event was the inaugural SingaCup Para Football Showcase, held on 8 November 2025 at ITE College Central.

Giving Back Through the SingaCup Boots Donation Drive

These will be cleaned and distributed through partner NGOs to underprivileged football communities across Southeast Asia, reinforcing SingaCup’s commitment to making football accessible for all.
15 Years of Football Impact and Inspiration
Since its debut in 2011, SingaCup has grown into one of Asia’s premier youth football tournaments, offering a professional platform for young players to test their abilities, gain international exposure, and form lifelong friendships.

Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir and Deputy Minister Taufik Hidayat received a visit from the Palu Selection team at the Ministry’s office in Jakarta on Tuesday, 11 November 2025.
Jakarta, KAIDAH.ID – Youth and Sports Minister (Menpora) Erick Thohir, together with Deputy Minister Taufik Hidayat, received a visit from the Palu Selection team at the Ministry of Youth and Sports office in Jakarta on Tuesday, 11 November 2025.

The meeting was facilitated by MPR Deputy Speaker AM Akbar Supratman as a sign of appreciation for the Central Sulawesi youngsters, who had just returned from competing at Singa Cup 2025 in Singapore. Earlier, Akbar Supratman had also given Rp100 million in assistance to the Palu Selection team to support their departure for the international tournament. The support was a concrete expression of care for the development of youth football in the regions.
60 balls and a scholarship pledge
At the Ministry, Erick Thohir handed over 60 footballs to support Palu Selection’s training. He also stated the government’s commitment to give special attention and educational scholarships to high-achieving young athletes, responding directly to a proposal from the team’s coach, Fadlun Hamid.
The government will keep supporting sustained development for young athletes so they can grow up to the international level. Don’t be quick to feel satisfied with what has been achieved; keep training and stay disciplined.
Erick Thohir
For his part, Akbar Supratman, who is also a member of the DPD (Regional Representative Council) for Central Sulawesi, thanked the Minister and Deputy Minister for receiving the young Central Sulawesi players and for their attention.
We thank the Minister and Deputy Minister for the welcome. We hope this attention will motivate high-achieving children, especially players from Central Sulawesi, to keep developing.
AM Akbar Supratman
Achievement at Singa Cup 2025
Palu Selection had just returned from Singapore after playing at Singa Cup 2025, an international tournament involving hundreds of young players from many countries. Although their run ended in the quarter-finals, one of their players, Aimar Al Adlu, known as Marco, became the tournament’s top scorer with 11 goals.
Citing the official Singa Cup 2025 website, the article says Marco shone from the opening match. He scored five goals against India, one against Australia and two against Singapore, plus several more in the group stage. His sharpness in front of goal made him one of the most prominent young stars of the event.
Marco’s success and that of his teammates, the article says, proves that the potential of young Indonesian players, especially from Central Sulawesi, is very large and deserves full support from the government.
This achievement is only the beginning. We want young players like them to grow into national athletes who carry Indonesia’s name on the world stage.
