Sticky-rice power abroad: Bay Savanh blazed a trail in Singapore by winning Singa Cup 2026 Boys U10.

It is outstanding news again for Lao youth football that a side went abroad, made a name and brought honour home: Bay Savanh’s under-10 team, the only representative from the Lao People’s Democratic Republic at Singa Cup 2026 in Singapore from 31 October to 7 November 2026, proudly won the title.

From an excellent run through the group stage to the final — seven matches, six wins and one draw, 37 goals scored and only one conceded — among 36 teams in the age group, Bay Savanh reached the final and lifted the trophy, building renown for the club and the nation once more.

Winning was not as simple as peeling a banana. The young players fought hard against many opponents from the group stage to the final: a 6-0 win, a 0-0 draw, a 9-0 win, a 3-0 win, a 7-0 win, a 7-1 win, a 5-0 win, and in the final a 7-1 victory over BESM Woodleigh FC of Singapore.

Bay Savanh FC’s youth side has previously beaten many domestic and foreign clubs and won titles at home and in the region, building the club’s and the nation’s name. Lao society has paid attention and given encouragement, most recently as the side claimed the Singa Cup title in Singapore.

This is sticky-rice power blazing a trail abroad. The hope is that talented young players from clubs across Laos will grow quickly into a senior national team that can restore national pride — because in the past and still today, Lao sides have often finished near the bottom of competition tables, and it is unclear how long it will take to climb toward the top, especially in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region.
