MilkLife Strikers, Indonesia’s Girls U12 team, opened their Singa Cup 2026 campaign in Singapore with a 6-1 win over hosts Lion City Sailors.

The MilkLife Strikers U-12 girls’ football team began their Singa Cup 2026 campaign with a convincing 6-1 win over Lion City Sailors. The match against the hosts took place at The Rainforest Hub, Singapore, on Sunday (1 November 2026), as reported by Detik Sport.

Ika Wonda, a forward from SD Kristen Manahan Surakarta primary school, was the top scorer in the match with three goals, a hat-trick. The other three goals came from Locita Waranggani, Keyla Azzahra Putri and Nadia Shakila Azzahra.

MilkLife Strikers coach Jacksen F. Tiago said effective finishing was one of the factors in his team’s win. He also saw the players exploit gaps in the opposing defence when facing high pressure.

Jacksen explained that the players had been told not to waste any chance to score, including chances that looked small.

I told the children that even the smallest chance has to be made the most of. That is what they did today. The opposing team pressed high, and from there we managed to exploit the space behind their back line.

Besides carrying out the game plan, the coach paid attention to his players’ ability to cope with the pressure of the first match. The win over Lion City Sailors was also an important experience for the young Indonesian players.

Not only that, I am also happy the players could overcome their nerves on the first day. What is more, we managed to win against a strong team like Lion City Sailors. For me, being able to come here and get this playing experience is already very valuable.

The team’s preparation before leaving for Singapore was also a focus for Jacksen. He said building cohesion between the players was one of the main priorities, as the squad comes from different team backgrounds.

The coach, who has led Persipura Jayapura and the Indonesia national team in 2013, said togetherness off the pitch also supported the team’s collective performance. The players went through intensive preparation before the tournament.

Before leaving for here, the players went through intensive preparation. From the start, we focused on building the players’ chemistry on the pitch. As a result, today I saw them all blend in and play as a unit. They managed to close the distance between one another even though they come from different team backgrounds.
