MilkLife Strikers, Indonesia’s Girls U12 team, opened their Singa Cup 2026 campaign in Singapore with a 6-1 win over hosts Lion City Sailors.

MilkLife Strikers opened their Singa Cup 2026 campaign with a brilliant result. The U-12 girls’ football team beat host representatives Lion City Sailors 6-1 at The Rainforest Hub, West Coast, Singapore, on Sunday (1 November 2026).

Ika Wonda, a forward from SD Kristen Manahan Surakarta primary school, was the star of the win with three goals, a hat-trick. The other three goals came from Locita Waranggani, Keyla Azzahra Putri and Nadia Shakila Azzahra.

MilkLife Strikers came under pressure as soon as the match began. Lion City Sailors applied a high-pressing strategy to disrupt the flow of the ball. But the MilkLife Strikers players did not rush. They controlled the game with short passing.

The strategy paid off straight away in the third minute. Locita Waranggani broke through the opposing defence and gave MilkLife Strikers the lead.

The goal began to unsettle Lion City Sailors. Five minutes later, Keyla Azzahra Putri doubled the lead with a header. MilkLife Strikers pulled further ahead after Nadia Shakila Azzahra converted a penalty in the ninth minute.

Ika Wonda then took over. The forward from Surakarta scored two goals in the 10th minute to put MilkLife Strikers 5-0 up at the end of the first half.

In the second half, MilkLife Strikers kept trying to add goals. But Lion City Sailors pulled one back through a goal from Hana Raiqa in the 23rd minute.

Ika finally sealed her team’s win with her third goal in the last three minutes of the match. The hat-trick rounded off MilkLife Strikers’ 6-1 win.

MilkLife Strikers coach Jacksen F. Tiago said effectiveness in using chances was one of the keys to his team’s win. He also praised the mentality of the players, who overcame their nerves when facing one of Singapore’s strong teams.

I told the children that even the smallest chance has to be made the most of. That is what they did today. The opposing team pressed high, and from there we managed to exploit the space behind their back line. Not only that, I am also happy that the players could overcome their nerves on the first day. What is more, we managed to win against a strong team like Lion City Sailors. For me, being able to come here and get this playing experience is already very valuable.

Beyond the play, Jacksen said team cohesion was also important. He said the players, who come from different club and regional backgrounds, had built chemistry during the preparation period.

He said the intensive training before leaving for Singapore was aimed not only at improving technical ability but also at strengthening togetherness between the players.

Before leaving for here, the players went through intensive preparation. From the start, we focused on building the players’ chemistry on the pitch. As a result, today I saw them all blend in and play as a unit. They managed to close the distance between one another even though they come from different team backgrounds.

Ika Wonda said she was happy to help the team win its first match. She said her three goals were the result of the hard work of all the players during the training camp.

Of course I am happy we could win today. It is thanks to the hard work of all the players, who trained diligently throughout the training camp. Our training was quite intensive before we got here. Today I also scored a hat-trick, which was in line with Coach Jacksen’s instruction to me that a striker’s job is to score goals. I am happy I could do my job well today.

Teddy Tjahjono, representing Bakti Olahraga Djarum Foundation and Program Director of the MilkLife Soccer Challenge, said MilkLife Strikers’ participation in Singa Cup is part of an effort to broaden the match experience of girls’ football players from an early age.

He said the international tournament is also an opportunity to measure the results of the development work carried out through the MilkLife Soccer Challenge.

This is part of our effort to keep developing girls’ football from grassroots level. In the context of Singa Cup, we are trying to give the best players from MilkLife Soccer Challenge All-Stars 2026/2027 the chance to compete at a more competitive level. This step will of course enrich their experience and add to their playing time, as the players can test themselves directly against opponents from various countries.

Singa Cup is an early-age football tournament held in Singapore since 2011. The 2026 edition has 136 teams from 13 countries.

MilkLife Strikers, sent by Bakti Olahraga Djarum Foundation and MilkLife, are competing in the Girls U12 category. The squad is made up of players selected from the MilkLife Soccer Challenge All-Stars.

The Girls U12 category of Singa Cup 2026 has four teams playing a round-robin league from 1 to 3 November 2026. The top two teams in the table will go through to the final, while the other two will play for third place.

The win over Lion City Sailors gives MilkLife Strikers three points and puts them in contention at the top of the table with Selangor FC Academy A, who also won their first match.

In their next match, MilkLife Strikers are scheduled to face Nepal’s representative, Rato Bangala School, on Monday (2 November 2026) at the same venue. The result of that match will decide their path in the race to the final.
