Selvakumar Panneerselvam, Managing Director of SingaCup Pte Ltd, Singapore, said the first-ever Under-12 Copa Simha football tournament is being held in Sri Lanka with the aim of encouraging football among children in under-served areas of the country.

We are holding this tournament with children in under-served areas in mind. Because it is being held in Sri Lanka for the first time, the number of participating teams will not be limited. Any number of teams will be allowed to take part. We hope the children’s football event we are holding in Colombo will be a success. After that, we intend to hold tournaments for boys aged 8, 14 and 16 as well. We also intend to extend the tournament to other districts.
