JAKARTA, KAIDAH.ID – The Chairman of PSSI, Erick Thohir, expressed his high appreciation for the brilliant achievements of the Palu Selection U-14 Team, which represented Indonesia at the 2025 SingaCup in Singapore. The young team from Central Sulawesi stole the spotlight after winning two big victories, 8-1 over Australia and 13-0 over India, respectively.
This appreciation was conveyed by Erick Thohir, who is also the Minister of Youth and Sports, in his personal conversation with the Deputy Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia, Abcandra Mohammad Akbar Supratman, on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 afternoon. In the conversation, Erick expressed his pride in the struggle of the Palu Selection children who succeeded in making Indonesia proud in the international arena.
“I really appreciate their struggle. This is clear evidence that early childhood coaching in the region is going well and needs to be supported,” said Erick in a conversation delivered by Akbar after the match.
Erick also promised to meet directly with the Palu Selection Team after they returned from Singapore. “I want to meet the children directly. They deserve special attention because they have shown extraordinary fighting spirit,” he said.
Deputy Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia, Akbar Supratman, who witnessed the two victorious matches of the Palu Selection team in Singapore, welcomed the attention of the Chairman of PSSI.
“Alhamdulillah, Mr. Erick’s attention is good news for the children. This is a form of moral support that is very meaningful for the future of football in Central Sulawesi and Indonesia,” said Akbar.
Meanwhile, team official Gamal Hakim expressed his gratitude for the attention and appreciation that came from various parties. “The children are getting more motivated. This is a valuable experience that they will bring along their career journey,” said Gamal.
With two big wins in the early phase of the 2025 SingaCup, Palu Selection is now one of the most counted teams. Support and appreciation from various circles are expected to be an encouragement to continue to make proud achievements in the international arena. (*)
