DENPASAR, Radarbali.id – Bali United The Academy has shown significant progress since its formation in March 2024. In addition to actively competing at the national level, such as the Elite Pro Academy (EPA) Liga 1 and the 2024 Soeratin Cup, they also spread their wings to the international arena by participating in the 2024 Liona Cup, a prestigious youth tournament held in Singapore.
The tournament, which took place from November 2, 2024, was attended by four teams from Bali United Academy, namely the U-8, U-10, U-12, and U-16 categories, which compete with teams from Malaysia, Singapore, India, the Philippines, and Japan.
The competition, which is entering its 14th edition, is the first event for Bali United Academy at the international level. One of the teams that recorded brilliant results was Bali United Academy U-8, which managed to penetrate the quarterfinals after occupying second place in group D.
They recorded three wins and one loss in the group phase, with victories over teams from Singapore and the Philippines. However, their progress was stopped in the last 8 after losing 1-5 to TSS Selangor Malaysia.
In the U-10 category, the struggle of Bali United Academy U-10 has not yielded satisfactory results. They were only able to achieve one draw and three defeats, thus occupying the bottom of the group D standings.
The Under-12 team also faced a similar challenge, being stopped in the preliminary round despite having won one against Conscient Sport Delhi from India. However, they lost three other matches against teams from Singapore, Australia, and the Philippines.
Meanwhile, the Bali United Academy U-16 team is scheduled to start their match on November 5, 2024, with the hope of stepping far into the final round. Richi Kurniawan, a representative of the management of Bali United FC who accompanied the team in Singapore, expressed his pride in the achievements of the Bali United Academy in the SingaCup 2024.
“We are proud of the development of children who dare to appear in this international event. This is an important step for them to continue to develop their talents, with the hope of becoming professional players in the future,” said Richi, who is also the General Coordinator of the Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium.
The SingaCup 2024 tournament is not only a valuable experience for Bali United Academy, but also provides an opportunity for young Indonesian players to compete at the international level and show their quality on the global stage.
