The annual SingaCup, Singapore International Youth Cup is celebrating its 10-year of youth football excellence this November despite the strong challenge and ‘defence’ put up by Covid-19.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the SingaCup is reinventing itself to present a hybrid 5 days event programme consisting of competitive esports tournaments, interviews and panel discussions with professional footballers and industry.

In addition, eSingaCup 2020 seeks to reaffirm its strong standing in the international grassroots football community and attract new fans and a greater audience, all the while showcasing Singapore and the event online.

eSingaCup FIFA 21 – 1 v 1

One of the most talked about programs is the eSingaCup FIFA 21 – 1 v 1 esports tournament. The inaugural eSingaCup FIFA 21 – 1 v 1 tournament will be played exclusively on the PlayStation 4 online network from 31 October to 1 November 2020. Top 16 players will get to win fabulous prizes! Apart from the gaming component, eSingaCup 2020 has lined up a list of exciting speakers and panelists for the eSingaCup Conferences taking place daily from 31 October to 4 November 2020.

Among the invited speakers & panelists list, there are Australia all-time leading goalscorer Tim Cahill, Captain of India National Team Sunil Chhetri, Indonesia International & former J.League striker Irfan Bachdim, Singapore & FK Jerv striker Ikhsan Fandi, AFC Asian Coach of the Year Award winner & current Thailand National Team head coach Akira Nishino, UEFA & FIFA Technical Consultant Fritz Schmid, Singapore & Tampines Rovers’ Baihakki Khaizan, AFC Women’s Coach of the Year Award winner Chan Yuen Ting and more.

Featuring FK Jerv’s Ikhsan Fandi, former Bontang FC’s Hilarius Bryan, Darwin Olympic’s Billy Kathopoulis and moderated by Junpiter Futbol’s Jun Tan. The SingaCup alumini or the “old boys” are back together to talk about their participation in SingaCup and their career.

Hungry For More!

Indonesia National Team & Bali United’s footballer Stefano Lilipaly will be sharing his life stories and how he is still hungry for more even at the current age of 30 year old. The former Netherland Youth player will also be speaking about his European footballing days which he will be joined by host Nathasha Lopez.

The Sensei

Apart from having the younger players like Ziko Chua (Geylang International), Hayato Kimura (FC Regate) and Javier Gayoso (Philippines U-23), the current Thailand National Team head coach Akira Nishino, who’s also the AFC Asian Coach of the Year Award winner in 2008, will be sharing his view on the current football development scene. Shehzad Haque moderates this discussion.

A must watch for women footballers to say the least. 2016 AFC Women’s Coach of the Year Award winner Chan Yuen Ting will be sharing how she went against all odds to pursue her football dream. Discussion is moderated by Junpiter Futbol’s Jun Tan. Joining them are ANZA’s Head of Girls Program Adelina Gomez, Ayer Rajah Gryphons’ Jasma Habib and Singapore & Lion City Sailors’ Danelle Tan.

What has to be said if we have World Cup star Tim Cahill speaking to all of us? Tim is the first Australian to score at three FIFA World Cups (2006, 2010, 2014) and has scored the most goals by any Australian in the World Cup with five goals. The striker is Australia all-time leading goalscorer and is famous for his regular goal celebration of shadow boxing around the corner flag. It will definitely be interesting to hear more from him and host Natasha Alquiros.

Captain Fantastic

To end off the eSingaCup Conference with a big bang, Team SingaCup has invited India’s most-capped player and all-time top goalscorer for the Indian National Team Sunil Chhetri to share his amazing experiences. Popularly known as “Captain Fantastic”, he is named an ‘Asian Icon’ by AFC on his 34th birthday. This discussion will be hosted by Shehzad Haque.

eSingaCup Music Fest

In addition, a music extravaganza is created to celebrate 10 years of youth football excellence through the SingaCup too. 2 of the most awesome music talents from Singapore will take the stage in the inaugural SingaCup Music Fest. Do join rock band Supersonic and DJ/Producer TINC on 31 Oct 2020, Saturday, 8pm & 9pm respectively.

eSingaCup Movie Screening

Lastly, do not miss out Kallang Roar The Movie on 1 Nov 2020, Sunday, 8pm. Directed by football enthusiast Cheng Ding An in 2008. It is a sports film on Singapore National football team’s legendary coach Choo Seng Quee. The film shows the events leading up to Singapore winning the Malaysia Cup in 1977, including the epic semi-final match against Selangor and the final against Penang.
