October 29th, 2011 | Interview, Official
Interview with Tiong Hian from Dynamique Konzepts, Organiser of Singa Cup. He is interviewed by Mingji Lim, of Joji; Organising Partner of Singa Cup

——-

MJ: Hi, how are you?

TH: Hello Mingji, I am good. How about yourself?

MJ: Hi, I am very good! Please introduce yourself and what Dynamique Konzeptz does.

TH: I am Tiong Hian, Business Development Manager for Dynamique Konzepts. Football has been running through my veins since the age of seven.

Basically Dynamique Konzepts is in the MICE industry, providing a one-stop service solution for local and international tradeshows. The banking and aviation industries form the crux of our clientele base. This is the first time we are deviating from our mainstream scope and breaking new grounds into sports with this international youth tournament – SingaCup.

MJ: Let’s talk abt Singa Cup, how did it came about?

TH: We look at the Goitha Cup, Danna Cup and Kanga Cup. These are all premier international youth football tournaments – which have been around for years. But closer to home, South-east Asia in particular, we do not experience this kind of passion and love for the game. There are definitely tournaments happening every other day in SEA, but we certainly do not have a week-long tournament. Therefore, we wanted to create a tournament that is professional, challenging and experiential for the participants. SingaCup- Singapore’s premier international youth football tournament.

MJ: What is the idea/concept of Singa Cup? Whats the vision?

TH: There are certainly many tournaments around the regional which last about 2-3 days at best, but with hundreds of teams, how much can you learn and excel in your game? SingaCup aims to be a professional setup where the youths get to play in a competitive environment. We want to bring the world at your feet – one destination, maximum opportunities. Discussions are underway to invite scouts from around the region and Europe for the games. SingaCup would be the platform for the next Asian teenage sensation. Over the next three – five years, SingaCup will also incorporate conferences into the week-long event – where the football fraternity can learn and share their knowledge with fellow peers.

MJ: This year is the inaugural edition of the Singa Cup, what can we expect to see in this first edition of the Singa Cup?

TH: You can expect the unexpected – We have 4 teams from Australia, 3 from Singapore, 2 from Philippines, 2 from India and 1 from Ghana – forming the 12 team contingent. Boys being boys, this is truly the place where you can see the hunger, passion and burning desire for the love of the game. No blings blings, no million dollar money draw – just one simple task – enjoy at what they do best – football.

MJ: So is there anything you would like to add, that you may want our audience to know?

TH: Should the supporters want to attend the Officials Night or Awards Presentation, they can approach the SingaCup committee for assistance.

MJ: Thank you very much for the interview! Good luck to Singa Cup 2011!
